Abstract: Title:Generating intense ultrashort radiation by reflecting an ultrashort laser pulse from a thin target
Speaker: Wenmin Zhang
Abstract:Particle-in-cell simulation and analytical modeling demonstrate that the reflection of a single-cycle light pulse from a thin target can produce an ultrashort ultraintense electromagnetic field.
Title:Evolution of Alfvén resonances during magnetic reconnection with super-Alfvénic flow shear
Speaker:Lingjie Li
Abstract: In the framework of two-dimensional incompressible MHD, we investigate the formation of Alfvén resonance layer with different super-Alfvénic shear flow. It’s found that one or two pairs of Alfvén resonance layers are formed in the inflow region. We mainly focus on the evolution of the two pairs of Alfvén resonance layers during the magnetic reconnection process. The formation reason and influences of the one pair of Alfvén resonance layers which we have done before will be briefly introduced. Also, basic concepts of magnetic reconnection and Alfvén resonances are included in this talk.
