Abstract: Title:Electron injection into plasma wake field by colliding laser pulses
Speaker: Zhigang Deng
Abstract:High quality intense relativistic electron beams can be generated by the interaction of two colliding laser pulses to inject plasma electrons into a Wakefield excited by one of the laser pulses. The mechanism of this optical injection is analyzed theoretically and the impact of laser parameters on the injected electron number is discussed.
Topic: Half Spectral Method for Linear Plasma Simulation (1): Introduction
Speaker: Hua-sheng XIE
Abstract:
There are two usual methods for linear (waves and instabilities) problem: eigenvalue (dispersion relation) solver and initial value solver. Here, I introduce an idea of the combination of them, i.e., we keep time derivative dt term (and other term if have, e.g., kinetic dv term), but transform the linear spatial derivatives dx term to ik, which then can reduce the computational dimensions. For eaxmple, most normal mode problems can be reduced from PDE to ODE and become very easily to solve. I will give a general description of this method with several examples and also the comparisons with theory. The applications to space plasma (e.g., tearing mode) and Tokamak (e.g., ITG, KBM) eigen (inhomogeneous with boundary condtions) problems and discussions for nonlinear simulations will also be given.
