Title: Spectrum Cascade in DTEM Turbulence
Speaker: Haotian Chen (陈昊天)
Abstract: A weak turbulence theory is developed to study the nonlinear nonresonant toroidal mode coupling process in dissipative trapped-electron mode (DTEM) turbulence, based on nonlinear gyrokinetic theory. The coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations are derived and used to describe the spectrum cascade effect in DTEM turbulence.
Title: Effective Resistivity in Collisionless Magnetic Reconnection
Speaker: Tong Chen (陈通)
Abstract: The well-known physical mechanism for fast magnetic reconnection in collisionless plasmas is that the off-diagonal terms of the electron pressure tensor give rise to a large reconnection electric field in the reconnection region. The electron pressure tensor fully associated with electron kinetic effects is difficulty implemented into the MHD model. Here, we try to use a simple equation E=\eta J (where \eta is an effective resistivity) to illustrate the fast reconnection in collisionless magnetic reconnection. The verification of this effective resistivity is conducted through a full particle simulation with different parameters. Its physical mechanism and expression are also addressed.
