STELLOPT: A Tutorial Description of this Stellarator Design and Analysis Tool
In this tutorial talk I will give a general description of some features of STELLOPT, a STELLarator OPTimization code that has been extensively used for nearly 20 years in the design and analysis of stellarator experiments. Emphasis will be on its use for plasma configuration design. We will describe a more recent develpment path which integrates coil and plasma design in a free-boundary approach which promises to overcome a pitfall of two-stage reverse-engineering approach to determining coilsets which support target equilibria.
