Title: On gyrokinetic simulation with Slowing-down distribution
Modifications shall be made for gyrokinetic simulation when background velocity distribution is changed from Maxwellian to slowing-down. These modifications mainly occur in the Poisson solver where polarization density involves velocity gradient of the distribution. Comparison between slowing-down distribution and Maxwellian distribution with the same temperature profile is presented for ion temperature gradient instability, in linear and nonlinear case. Nonlinear gyrokinetic simulation suggests that using equivalent Maxwellian instead of slowing-down distribution intends to overestimate the turbulent heat flux.
