Topic2: Simulation of synergetic effect between LHCD and IBW on EAST

Abstract: A numerical code has been modified to simulate the synergetic effect between lower hybrid current (LHCD) and ion Bernstein wave (IBW) on Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST). With a fixed MHD equilibrium of the EAST, we have carried out a series simulation using this code to study how to determine the synergetic effect on the lower hybrid wave (LHW) power deposition and current drive profiles. The results indicate that the quasi-linear modifications of the distribution function due to IBW injection can strongly affect the LHW power deposition and the current drive profiles; The efficient of current drive, whether or not, is improved which depends on the spectrum of IBW. We should choose the proper IBW spectrum to combine with LHW during synergy of LHCD and IBW to get larger driven current.
