The coordinators of the FPTs (the 2008 Focused Physics Team Meeting) and the Institute for Fusion Theory and Simulation, Zhejiang University (IFTS-ZJU), believe that it is necessary to enhance collaboration and communication between the researchers, domestic and international, in order to promote development of the studies in these fields. Therefore, the 3rd International West Lake Workshop on Fusion Theory and Simulation was held at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China on 15th -19th, Sep. 2009.
The workshop was hosted by Institute for Fusion Theory and Simulation (IFTS), Zhejiang University, with about 60 participants from the United States, England, Japan and Italy. There were totally 21 talks presented, focusing on the three major subjects— turbulence and coherent structures, energetic particle physics and MHD instabilities in magnetized fusion plasmas.
